Can AI help you understand what’s going on with your pet?

In my experience as an animal communicator, AI’s generalizations and assumptions can’t tell you about the complexities of what your pet feels in their body, or if they feel their life would be better with a second animal friend in the home, or what emotions are behind why your pet is acting out.

And relying on AI to try to understand your pet, rather than setting up a conversation with them, can damage their trust in you and your bond.

Dear Inuititve One,

I get the lure of typing questions about your pet into an AI platform like ChatGPT or Claude. I mean, who doesn’t love an instant answer to their questions?

But when it comes to understanding your pet’s unique feelings, what they want and have to tell you, at most, AI can spit out generalizations and assumptions about what your pet might be feeling or wanting, which, unfortunately, can lead you and your pet in the wrong direction. And neither will help you get to know your pet better.

AI’s generalizations and assumptions can’t tell you about the complexities of what your pet feels in their body, or if they feel their life would be better with a second animal friend in the home, or what emotions are behind why your pet is acting out. And if you’ve ever been on the wrong side of someone’s assumption about you, you know how invisible, small, and powerless it can feel.

Animal communication gives you the chance to learn about your pet’s unique perspective so you can better understand what they are feeling at this time.

Animal communication helps you understand the details behind your pet’s pain, emotions, and behaviour from their lived experience and perspective, so you can understand them better as the living, sentient being they are. It also gives them the chance to share what’s in their heart and on their mind, which feels amazing, and helps deepen their trust in you and your shared bond.

And this level of understanding is so precious in today's world.

Perhaps as a product of having access to SO much content online, we have become a society of quick skimmers of complex concepts and ideas, headline readers who swiftly file it all into tidy yes or no, black or white categories, leaving the complexity and layers of subtleties slip through the cracks of our rapidly shrinking collective attention spans. And now with AI in the picture, with a few clicks on our keyboards, we have access to an endless supply of quick, tidy summaries, which in the moment can feel so novel that we don’t even notice how it’s also squashing our curiosity and shrinking our ability to understand complex ideas.

And yet under all of our endless scrolling and consuming of online content, I believe most of us are actually looking for connection. The kind of connection that feels so safe, we are able to drop our guard, take off our masks, and lean in. Connection that feeds our heart and nourishes our Soul, and shines a light on our path towards experiencing and understanding unconditional love.

Talking with animals is like this.

Animal communication can feel a little like swimming in love. With every word, image, and intuitive sensation shared from your pets, they draw you closer to that feel-good place of profound understanding, validation, and connection. And thankfully, at least for now, this is something AI can’t replicate.

I'd love to invite you to get a sense of that swimming-in-love feeling with one of my favorite animal communication practices--it’s yours when you sign up for my newsletter. Just click the bright yellow button below.
