Hello Dear Intuitive One

If you’re here reading this post, I imagine you’ve recently lost an animal friend. So before we go any farther, let’s take a moment to acknowledge your loss, your grief and the sheer overwhelm of it all. I’d also love to offer you a reminder—in this moment when you most likely need to hear it the most— your grief matters. This profound grief you are feeling right now, is actually an indicator of how much your animal friend’s love has shaped and transformed you over the course of your friendship. And this matters a heck of a lot.

We can be honest with one another here. Losing an animal friend is freaking brutal. Our animal friends are so much more than just “pets”. They are our animal familiars, our beloveds and our teachers of unconditional love. Our animals are our family, but without all that shitty co-dependent yucky trauma stuff to muck it all up. And when the pass away, the grief of it all can be overwhelming and almost impossible to navigate alone.

Grieving the loss of our animal friends

When we're talking about animal loss, we have to address the giant block that hinders so many of our paths as we try to navigate our grief. It’s a block that is actually a block of absence. We’re talking about the absence of culturally acceptable customs, that are actually able to help us mark in a sacred way, the loss of such a profound friendship. This absence of rituals and ceremony makes it so hard for us sensitive empaths, to actually create the time and space that we need to grieve.

As I write this, I’m reflecting on an experience I had a while back when I showed up for an appointment to look at a new studio space. The woman showing the property arrived for our meeting dishelved and a bit late, sharing she was late because she had just come from the veterinarians office where she had just put down her 15 year old cat.

I watched her choke back tears while she said, “But you got to keep going, life goes on right?”. Knowing full well what she was feeling, I insisted we reschedule our meeting.

I remember so clearly walking away from that encounter hearing my intuition yelling at me “We’ve GOT to change our collective story around the grief about animal loss”.

I believe we are over due for changing this narrative. It’s time we rewrite it all, so we have appropriate rituals, ceremonies, the time and space to fully process the death of our animals. It’s vital to shift this, so animal lovers feel supported and safe to do the big work of grieving the loss of what is most likely the most impactful friendship you will ever have in your life.

Changing our collective story about how we grieve is vital too, because when we look at grief through our intuitive goggles, we can see what a powerful force it is. We can see what happens when we stuff it, hide it or ignore it. Grief doesn’t actually go away when we do this, we store untended grief in our body where it just transforms itself into illnesses like asthma and anxiety.

The power of having a safe, sacred space to connect with your pets after they’ve crossed over

As intuitive folks, we are used to being able to sense our animals around us. We are used to sensing our animals intuitive voice, even if we're still learning how to distinguish their intuitive voice from our own. And after our animal friends cross over, the absence of these intuitive sensations can overwhelming, it can feel downright crippling. And this is where animal communication sessions with a professional like me can be so helpful.

The process of communicating with an animal who has passed away is the same as one who is still in body. It’s the essence of who your animal is that I connect with and translate for in a session. Just like with animals who are still alive, I use a photo of your animal friend to find their energetic signature to connect and communicate with them.

It is so helpful in sessions to have the chance to ask your animal friend questions that you didn't get the chance to with all the stress, overwhelm and quickness of their passing. In sessions they get to share with you all the the things they really want you to know. It’s profoundly powerful to have the chance to wrap up loose ends, so you are both freed to move forward to whatever is next for you.

And in a world that offers so little space grieving, for your tears and for your sharing about how impactful our animals were on our life Animal communication sessions, give you safe space to go over all of it. Sessions give you a safe space to grieve, which is powerful beyond words.

If your moved to connect for a session to talk with your animal-in-spirit-friend, reach out. For over a decade I’ve been helping intuitive animal lovers all around the world communicate with their animal friends. I would love the chance to support you.

Thanks for tuning in with me today,

XO
