Why Intuitive communication with your own pets is SO hard

Why it’s so hard to intuitively tune-in with your own animal friends

Why is it so hard to intuitively talk with your own animal friends?

If you have a hard time tapping into what your animal friends are trying to tell you, EVEN though you have a wickedly strong intuitive sense — stick around.

This post is all about why this happens and how pushing through it on your own isn’t going to help you or your pets

I recently reached out for an animal communication session with a peer of mine from British Columbia. I needed help getting to the bottom of what is going on with my cat, Miss Kitty.

Miss Kitty has been bullying our dog friend, Whiskey, to no end. Girl has been to the vet twice - both times show she is in purrfect health. I’ve also been talking with both Miss Kitty and Whiskey daily about the situation and have done a ton of energy work on both of them and our home. Yet her bullying continues.

But the one thing I’ve known all along that I haven’t wanted to admit is that I’m too close to these two. I am too invested in the outcome to intuitively sense the layers of this situation clearly. It happens to all of us intuitive folks from time to time. Yet, despite my resistance to admitting it, I genuinely believe that when we can’t address challenging behaviour with our own pets, it doesn’t mean we are losing our abilities or that something harmful is blocking us, or that we aren’t good enough (or any of the other negitivtve talk that our brains come up with). It just means we are too close to access the neutrality needed for our intuition to see the whole picture.

Image: A photo from before the trouble started! Miss Kitty, a black and white cat, and Whiskey, a retriever Rottweiler mix, lying close-ish to one another on the futon. Occasionally, they lie so close they are practically touching, which is a BIG deal for these two frenemies.

I know that everyone struggles with this, but before I could comfortably reach out for intuitive support, I still had to move through all the layers of resistance…. including my inner dialogue that would tell me, “I should be able to figure this out on my own.”

Oh, and then there was the resistance around not being sure if I was ready to hear what they had to say.

But my struggle to see the situation between these two normally semi-harmonious critters only grew. When I would tune-in, it felt as though behind every conversation with them was also a constantly shifting mirage where the intuitive answer was just on the other side of my next felt sense.

But the closer I got, the farther away and more inaccessible it became.

Have you ever felt this with your own pets?

7 reasons that may be getting in your way of intuitively talking with your pets

  1. You are too attached to the outcome and are struggling to hear what your pets have to share with the needed neutrality

  2. You’re too stuck in your head and your mind is running the show

  3. Your own mental projections are getting in the way

  4. Your strong emotions of LOVE, grief, worry, or uncertainty are temporarily louder than your own intuitive voice

  5. You’re out of your body and your energy is literally crowding your pets (like standing wayyyy to close to someone in line at the market), making it really hard for your pets to share

  6. You are stuck in black and white, binary, thinking and looking for the main issue or ONE issue, rather than being open to sensing the whole picture of what your pets are feeling and needing

  7. You’ve been sideswiped by a bad case of the “shoulds” that are blocking you from your intuitive flow. As in: You should be able to figure this out on your own, you should have all the answers by now, you should be able to navigate past all of the reasons you can’t see clearly and just fix this situation!

If you are nodding your head at one or more of these items on this list, I’ve got you.

I want to remind you that in times like these, your intuition isn’t going to work better if you just try harder. Intuitive animal communication rarely works when we are under pressure. When under pressure, our minds tend to hijack our intuition by offering up projection after projection of what might be happening with your pets.

And if your pets are in pain or are acting out or have something so major that your intuitive channels are clamping shut, now is the time to reach out to an animal communicator that you trust. Not only for your pets but for yourself, too. Receiving sessions gives you the chance to learn about what you can’t see, sense, or feel because of the personal stories, beliefs, or ideas that are preventing you from hearing your pets clearly. Plus, your pets will feel so relieved for the chance to share with you about what is actually going on with them :)

Back to the saga of Miss Kitty and Whiskey

The peer I reached out to for support was beyond helpful in shining the light on an aspect of Miss Kitty's past that was a little too close to my own story that I couldn’t see or hear her clearly.

The intuitive session with my peer was profoundly helpful to highlight what Miss Kitty and I couldn’t address on our own. It allowed me to hear Miss Kitty's story in a new way. And thanks to the space that was being held for us, we were able to come up with some new ways to get her needs met.

And Miss Kitty? She is feeling so much better. She is making better choices (most of the time), and I have a handful of new compassionate and communication-based tools to help redirect her for those times when she falls into old habits.

Your pets have so much to tell you.

When you’re ready, I’d be honored to help you begin the conversation.
