Saying Hello to the present moment

Let’s help the world be a kinder place…

Here’s how to put the practical magic created by your own presence to work in the world (including at the grocery store) to create meaningful connections with strangers.

“Saying Hello to the Present Moment” meditation starts at 4:24

Hello Dear Intuitive One,

I imagine we can agree that we are not living in easy times.

And lately, so many clients in my 1:1 Soul Work sessions  have been sharing, almost hesitantly, how hard everything is right now, and they worried they are the only ones struggling.

From where I’m sitting, I’m seeing so many of us sensitive ones doing such a great job of keeping up with it all, but also being one more major event away from just collapsing into a puddle of mud and bones.

Even for many of the highly trained and practiced intuitive folks I work with, it’s like just when they start to feel connected and hopeful, another major world shifting event will knock them right out of commission for a week or two.

It's right in the middle of the hardness of it all that I want to remind you of the necessity of magic.
In particular, how presence can reignite the special kind of magic that you can put into action in everyday places to invoke hope, to alchemize the stress that’s created by what feels like the whole freaking world holding its breath.

Thich Nhat Hanh shared a story about how the power just one person’s presence has in supporting the survival of a group.

In his story he was sharing the dangers faced by Vietnamese boat people fleeing into open water on rafts cobbled together with nothing more than scrap lumber and twine. Yet when facing the immediate danger of sinking or of being boarded by deep sea pirates, if just one person aboard the raft can maintain a calm presence, everyone on the boat has a much better chance of survival.

It just takes ONE person being in the here and now for the whole group to survive.

Presence is the medicine.

With everything that’s unfolding in our world these days I am certain that the kind of magic presence creates is exactly the MAGIC we need more of.

  • The kind of present moment magic that allows us to make meaningful heart-centered connections with strangers, even as we’re masked and 6 feet apart at the grocery store.

  • The kind of present moment magic that helps us stay in centered flow when we catch a glimpse of the news.

  • And the kind of present moment magic that has the power to help you embody steadiness and hope, even in the face of it all.

This kind of magic is always in and around you. To tap into it, you need to get present enough to focus in on the micro moments in the here and now, and step into the resonance of the flow of magic.

One itsy-bitsy micro moment slice at a time.

If all of this speaks to how you’ve been feeling you’re going to love this weeks’ mini energetic boundary practice. It’s all about dropping into the magic that’s all around you.

Let’s tune-in together with an energetic boundary practice I call:

Saying Hello to the present moment

One of the beautiful things about this practice is that we can do it anytime, anywhere. Yes to sitting on our meditation pillow but double yes to doing this one while in traffic, while getting all the chores done, or while clearing out your email inbox. (If you’d rather rest your eyes and listen along, click the audio link at the start of this post)

  1. Start by giving yourself permission to put down the fullness of your thoughts. Step out of the future and back into the present by just intending to be in the here and now.

  2. Feed your presence by tuning-in with the movement of your breath. Give yourself a moment here to say hello to your body with each breath in. Say hello to your spine, your arms, hands and your legs and feet.

  3. Infuse your love, gratitude and presence into each hello you breath into your body…

Let this conversation between your breath and your body ground you, let it anchor you into the here and now.

  4. Play with shifting your focus so your attention can be equally focused on the sensations of your body and with the present moment.

With this fully present awareness, emanate a hello to the present moment. Practice emanating this kind greeting while you stay in your body, while you stay connected with your center. Explore how you can emanate this greeting rather than directing or sending it.

  5. To finish, listen with your whole body to the nourishing energy created by this meeting of you in the present moment. And if you are moved, welcome yourself back home to this exquisite flow state of presence.

Thanks for tuning in with me today,

I like to think that with both of us adding even 10% more presence in our day, we’re creating a little extra space for the whole world to take a gentle breath inward towards center… and to softly exhale.

And perhaps this alone will help ignite a little extra magic in the world, and we’ll all survive a little better.

XO

Joanna
